I moved to Burlington in 2020 after getting my EET degree at VTC. Grew up in the small town of Bethel, VT (but first from Hackensack, NJ) so I’m not totally new to the Queen City. But Burlington always drew me in as a kid. Bigger, more happening. So, after school ended, up north I went.
During the week, I work on the automation team fixing robots at Global Foundries. Evenings and weekends, I love to hoop and spend time by the beautiful lake. Burlington’s underrated gem is those west-facing sunsets over Lake Champlain, they’re simply something special that doesn’t get appreciated enough.
Why I Started the Btown Brief
Six months after moving here, I realized I was living the classic Burlington newcomer experience: scrolling through seventeen different sites trying to figure out what was happening tonight and constantly hearing about great events after they already happened.
Why was it so difficult? That’s not what I signed up for! I moved to small city to always have things to do.
So last February, I started doing something about it. I started hunting and gathering everything happening in Burlington by checking city calendars, venue listings, Front Porch Forum, Facebook events, social media, local news outlets, and packaging it into one easy read.
What You Get
Three times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday), I send you everything worth knowing in Burlington. Fifteen-minute read. No algorithm. No endless scroll.
Weather, news, and every event I can find, from City Hall meetings to DJ nights. Plus restaurant reviews, food deals, volunteer opportunities, and photos of Burlington life. I do the grunt work so you don’t have to.
The Community Part
Over 2,000 neighbors read the Brief now, with a 72% open rate. But here’s the plot twist: we’re starting to meet in real life.
I recently launched a Burlington meetup group on Meetup.com with our speciality being the Saturday coffee meetups. That was after hosting Friends Mixers at the South End Get Down spot, and brewery meetup events where six strangers showed up and got to know each other over drinks.
Who This Is For
If you’re tired of missing good stuff. If you want to know what’s happening without checking ten different websites. If you’ve been here three years and still discover venues you didn’t know existed.
This is for you.
